About Physis Affordable Counselling
Physis Affordable Counselling was established to make professional counselling and psychotherapy more accessible in Edinburgh.
We offer in-person sessions at a low fixed fee, delivered by volunteer practitioners in a calm, confidential setting in the city’s West End.
Our practitioners
Our counsellors and psychotherapists are professionals completing supervised practice placements. They are volunteer counsellors drawn from the advanced training with Physis Scotland, one of Scotland’s most respected counselling and psychotherapy training organisations.

Every practitioner has been endorsed to work with clients, has undergone PVG checks, and works under regular clinical supervision from experienced professionals.

This model allows us to offer high-quality therapeutic support at a significantly lower cost than private practice - without compromising on professionalism, confidentiality, or the standard of care you receive.
Our relationship with Physis Scotland
Physis Affordable Counselling is a separate organisation that operates in close partnership with Physis Scotland. While our practitioners are drawn from Physis training programmes, Physis Affordable Counselling has its own governance, policies, and clinical oversight. The relationship allows us to maintain the professional standards Physis is known for while keeping our services affordable and accessible.
Our setting
You'll find us in the lower floor at 22 Drumsheugh Gardens, a handsome period building in Edinburgh’s West End, just a short walk from Haymarket station and well connected by bus and tram. Sessions take place in dedicated therapy rooms that are private, comfortable, and designed to help you feel at ease.
Our values
We believe that access to professional therapeutic support shouldn’t depend on what you can afford. We also believe that counsellors in training deserve high-quality placement opportunities in a well-run, properly supervised setting. Physis Affordable Counselling exists to deliver both.
